The broadside shown here is to commemorate author David Mitchell’s April 2006 reading of Black Swan Green. The wood type letter forms in the word “Mine” were scanned from proofs I took of wood type at the School of Visual Concept’s letterpress shop, then combined with images and text composed on the computer. The final print was printed on Magnani Pescia (an Italian cotton paper) from photopolymer plates using a Vandercook SP-15 press.
Third Place is an independent book store that brings national and local authors in to do free public readings. A few times a year they dedicate a budget to produce a special limited edition letterpress printed broadside for these events. (Read about the series.)
